According to a global study, poor diet is now the leading number one cause of death. It has even surpassed tobacco, which was the famous killer of mankind.
*A diet which lacks in wholegrain, fruits, nuts and seeds plus food high in salt is causing 1 premature death in 5 people.

There are many people who eat lots of grains. But they eat processed grains which have no nutritional value and which have high calorie count. Many of these so-called "whole-grains" are processed to the point that they don't have much value anymore. Instead they have high contents of salt, sugar and added flavourings. We eat so much food with no nutritional value that it is detrimental to our health.
People in Asia tend to have food which is high in sodium because we use sauces and pastes which are overly saturated with salt. We also live on diets which are high in sugar and red-meat that contribute to poor health. We drink soda water, artificial juices and flavoured water which are also bad for our health instead of plain water.
We don't sleep enough or have proper sleep where our body is able to repair itself and regenerate. We are so deprived of sleep that we become the Walking Dead. We live on credit until it becomes too late. The body becomes bankrupt.
We live sedentary lifestyles. We don't move enough. We don't walk enough. Our hearts don't pump hard anymore. We sit on our backsides all day long. The backside in fact, is the only part that "exercises" all day long.
We don't invest in our mental health either. We are so overly stressed, over worked, unable to tear ourselves from the unimportant things in life. We are obsessed with FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) to the point every social media page is fettered to our wrists. We become so tethered to things that don't even exist. Overwhelmed with no outlet, we become Bruce Banner who at the slightest provocation turns into the Incredible Hulk.
All these added together is like a ticking time bomb which will ultimately end one's life. If you don't end up dying, you will suffer with many consequences to pay for.
Healthcare which isn't cheap will burn chasms in every bank account you own. You will end up seeing doctors who will prescribe medication like sweets to you. Or you will need surgeries and treatments to keep you going. Most of the time, the doctors have no idea either what to do with you. And this will go on and on and on like a vicious cycle.
We humans have this habit of thinking that it will not happen to us. Unfortunately, we are not immortal. You will reap what you sow. If you sow seeds of destruction in your health, you will pay for it in the end. And your will pay dearly for it.
It is not worth it.
As today is World Health Day, I beseech you to take a look at your health. Take a look at your life. Ask yourself this:
"Am I healthy?"
